Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community situated on the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. In reality, the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a huge part that stretches from Lachine all the way west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time was not long in the city. Brugel grew up in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. The first goal was to become performing, but she literally outgrew the dancing partners. In a report by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as at 6'1 inches tall. After I outgrew my male companions, I stopped. Former dancers often turn to acting, and Brugel wasn't an exception. The drama instructor at her high school helped push her in the direction she was looking for. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out in the role of Anne in the school's annual production. She threw herself into it and eventually got the character of Anne of Green Gables. The Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, for the more than 20 years since, Brugel was offered roles in more than 60 productions across both screens, receiving the greatest attention when she was offered the role of Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel, the only Canadian for the Season 1 cast of the show and was only seen on occasion, was the only Canadian.
